Mark Thorley Design Ltd strives to provide elegant and affordable architectural services tailored to suit each client’s brief. We do not adhere to a ‘house style’ because we believe in creating the right design that aligns with the client’s vision. Good design, in our view, makes economic sense. Our creativity is complemented by a solid understanding of the nuts and bolts of the construction industry. We can produce a comprehensive planning and building regulations package, allowing you to manage the project yourself, or we can offer full project management services, guiding you from conception to completion to turn your scheme into reality.

We will provide a clear fixed lump sum price for each separate stage of our architectural services, allowing you to have as much or as little assistance as you require. Our quote will detail the costs for the measured survey, sketch scheme, planning permission, building regulations, tenders, and the construction stage if needed. We also recognize that every client is unique, so each stage is 'optional' and can be paused at any time for those clients who wish to take a more hands-on approach to project management.
The price will depend on the size of the project, location, complexity, level of our involvement, and how 'one-off' the design will be.
Example prices (2025) for producing drawings suitable for planning & building regulations start from:
Single-Storey House Extension: From £1000
Two-Storey House Extension: From £1500
Typical House Remodelling: From £1500
New House (Planning Drawings): From £1,500
New House (Building Regulations): From £1,500

Once we have completed all your architectural services, secured planning permission, and obtained building regulations approval, you will have experienced our process firsthand and witnessed our commitment to providing the best design at the best price. Why not take this a step further by discussing our project management service? This service can oversee your project on-site, ensuring you receive the best value for money. Our clients have typically saved over 10% on build costs by utilizing our project management services.
